Glacial Snowfall Table Runner, foundation paper piecing
Join Kathy, from The Balcony Quilt Studio, for 2 no stress sessions to learn the essential methods involved in foundation paper piecing. We will discuss the pros and cons of different types of paper and of the “rip-less” and “sew through” approaches. We will be working with the Glacial Snowfall pattern by the Balcony Quilt Studio. The 3 different sections of the design gradually increase in complexity to ease you into the process. We’ll finish up the second session with some brainstorming about how to quilt your runner when the piecing is complete.

| Instructor Bio: | The Balcony Studio - We are a mother-daughter team who are enjoying this opportunity to collaborate while combining our shared interests with our individual passions. We hope you will agree that the result is a line of fresh and unique quilt designs that appeal to a variety of tastes and technique preferences. Emily has her Masters in Kinesiology and is the creative and techy part of the team. She designs using traditional piecing and foundation paper piecing and her Canadian roots show through in a number of her themes. Emily enjoys playing with colour and has an eye for detail. Although actual piecing and quilting are not her preferred steps in the creative process, Emily's experience with both help her create user-friendly designs. Kathy has been an avid sewist since she was a teenager, making many of her own clothes and doing custom sewing for customers and family. She first began quilting over 30 years ago but has truly immersed herself in this passion in the past 10 years , learning new techniques, teaching and making. Kathy enjoys each step of the quilt making process and our patterns will often include ideas to help spark your creativity and enthusiasm to make your quilts your own from start to finish. |
